The first race on Saturday featured light & patchy wind from the NW. I engineered a pretty poor start. We found a bit of breeze on the first beat and rounded third. We hoisted our big kite. It was too big ... it was drooping due to lack of wind. Sweeping the water. Soon enough we started hearing shouts of "LEEWARD!" It was ugly. We evaded, managed not to hit those folks ... but they just made a twirling motion to us. We did our circles. Race was shortened and we finished 4th, giving us 12 points (put us in third overall).
Then we had a 2-hour lack-of-wind delay, got to watch some spreader diving from the young folks form the Merchant Marine Academy...
